ONLINE General Neuroradiology - Trauma, Spine, Suprahyoid Neck & Sella

22 - 24 Feb 2021

100% Online

Level II - General radiologist

EACCME CME Accreditation Submitted

The purpose of this short online fellowship is to discuss selected common disease processes of the spine, sellar region and suprahyoid neck, as well as head and spine trauma and to immediately start practising by reading selected cases together with the mentor. Selected topics will first be presented in a lecture format, followed by representative cases. The participants will review the images, first by themselves and then together with the mentor and the group.

Description

The fellowship includes an overview of the pathology in three consecutive 4-5-hour sessions in the late afternoon and early evening (Central European Time). There is another short online fellowship covering disease processes of the brain and its coverings.
One to two daily lectures will provide the knowledge to be applied during the case reading sessions. Questions and comments are encouraged during the lectures. After each lecture the fellows will individually review and read around 10 selected clinical cases. This will be followed by mentor's interpretations, questions and comments, along with group discussion. Reporting templates will be suggested to help navigate and write adequate reports. The participants will have continuous access to the cases, from the week before through the week after the fellowship.

In this fellowship with a limited number of 15 radiologists you will enhance and strengthen your knowledge and understanding of brain imaging. Interactivity will be established through Zoom platform, and webcam use is encouraged to enhance the experience of a virtual reading room. The participants will have continuous access to the cases, from the week before through the week after the fellowship. At least 20 additional cases will also be available for individual review, along with respective diagnoses.
At the completion of the program the fellows should be able to identify common pathology of the spine, sellar region and suprahyoid neck, to detect traumatic injuries of the head and spine and to answer frequent clinical questions in their reports.

Learning objectives

  • To identify the normal anatomic structures and recognize the main pathologic processes
  • To define the differentiating imaging features of pathologic processes and to look for specific pertinent findings
  • To understand the clinical questions and how to address them by clinically relevant reports

Programme will include

  • Lectures covering topics in imaging of spine, sella, suprahyoid neck and trauma
  • Individual review of the cases
  • Interpretation by the mentor with group case discussion

Level

Level II - General radiologist
Subspecialisation training - Intermediate level, for radiologists with some neuroradiology experience.

Technical requirements

The training platform runs entirely in the browser but the online PACS places a considerable load on the hardware and internet connection when viewing and loading cases.
