Description

During the fellowship we will explore key aspects of cardiac CT and cardiac MR image interpretation, focusing on the identification of crucial findings in ischemic pathology, cardiomyopathies, valvular diseases, congenital heart diseases and cardiac tumours.

Through the discussion of practical cases, participants will learn to recognize and analyze the different radiological findings, also developing skills necessary for adequate acquisition of cardiac CT and MR images. Additionally, guidance will be provided on how to clearly and concisely articulate findings in radiology reports, ensuring effective communication with clinicians and thus contributing to the clinical decision-making process.

TMC Academy's online fellowships are held in a virtual classroom on Zoom. Participants are encouraged to engage in discussions using their camera and microphone to recreate the face-to-face experience. In this small group environment among your peers, you are free to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn together with the support of Prof. Pineda. Online sessions are recorded so that participants can review on their own time following the training.

Accreditation and CME Certificate
This cardiac imaging fellowship online course is organised by TMC Academy, an EACCME Trusted Provider. An application has been made to the UEMS/EBR for CME accreditation of this event.

Learning objectives

  • Provide a basic understanding of the technical principles necessary for acquisition protocol optimization in cardiac CT and cardiac MR
  • Review the most common clinical indications for cardiac CT and cardiac MRI in the evaluation of various cardiac pathologies, such as coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathies, congenital heart diseases, valvular heart disease, and cardiac tumors
  • Identify and describe the characteristic imaging findings in cardiac pathology, as well as the integration of multiple imaging modalities for an adequate differential diagnosis
  • Discuss the advantages and limitations of cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. Discuss the clinical and therapeutic implications derived from the findings observed

Programme will include

  • Lectures on image interpretation and planning in cardiac imaging
  • Individual practice interpretation and reading provided cases
  • Group case discussion
  • Question and answer session with specialised radiologist mentor
  • Access to presentation slides, session recordings, and other course materials
  • Personal dashboard with course materials on the TMC Academy account
  • Certificate of attendance/ CME Certificate - An application has been made to the UEMS/EBR for CME accreditation of this event

During this time, he spearheaded the implementation of cardiac MRI as an imaging technique for diagnosing cardiovascular pathologies in daily clinical practice and actively participated in two main research lines on aortic pathology and myocardial infarction. He obtained European Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Accreditation (Level III) from the European Society of Cardiology (EACVI). In 2019, he became the head of the cardiothoracic imaging at Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona and joined the research group of medical imaging at Insitut d’investigació Biomèdica de Girona. He concurrently engages in research and clinical assistance while also teaching as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine and the Escuela Politécnica Superior (Biomedical Engineering Degree) at the University of Girona. (IDIBGI).
