Description

The focus of the Barcelona Musculoskeletal Ultrasound workshop will be on reviewing ultrasound scanning technique, anatomy and common pathologies of different joints with a focus on sport related injuries.

The course is targeted to radiologists and sonographers wanting to improve their skills in musculoskeletal ultrasound, who have a reasonable knowledge of basic musculoskeletal anatomy, however a basic to intermediate knowledge of ultrasound scanning technique, as well as the limitations and strengths of this modality.

Attendees will be able to converse with the course demonstrators, have the opportunity to witness live scanning, practice their scanning technique in front of a small group as well, as have their scan technique assessed.


Lecturers

  • Richard de Villiers M.D.
    Cape Town, South Africa

    Radiologist at Telemedicine Clinic (Barcelona, Spain) and consultant for the SA Sports Science Institute (Cape Town, South Africa) and the Institute for Orthopaedics and Rheumatology (Stellenbosch, South Africa). Dr. Richard de Villiers has a special interest in Musculoskeletal radiology, with a particular interest in the imaging of sports injuries. He completed his training at the University of Stellenbosch and is on the specialist register in South Africa, Qatar and the United Kingdom. He has published more than 49 articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has spoken at international, national and local congresses. He is a member of the International Skeletal Society. He is the chairperson of the South African Musculoskeletal Imaging Group. He serves on SAMSIG and SASMA as a committee member. Founder of SportsRad, teleradiology solution. Dr. de Villiers has a ton of experience and knowledge on MSK radiology and is pleased to share this knowledge with radiologists looking to subspecialise.

Cancellation Policy

Participant cancellations
For cancellations made up until 6 weeks prior to the course, the participant will be fully reimbursed.

For cancellations made after 6 weeks, TMC Academy offers flexible transfer of paid registration fees, meaning that in the unfortunate event that an attendee cannot make it to Barcelona (for Covid-19 related reasons or other), they may simply transfer their credit to the next session (or to any combination of TMCA training programme(s) or subscriptions equivalent to the same price). Please note that this flexible transfer option is available until 1 day prior to the course.

TMC Cancellation

In the unlikely event that TMC Academy must cancel the fellowship (for Covid-19, force majeure, or other reasons), registrants will be offered the option of flexible transfer or full reimbursement.

TMC Academy will not be responsible for travel or accommodation affected by cancellation by either party. We recommend attendees to book flexible travel whenever possible.
