Improve diagnostic accuracy and your confidence in assessing MSK studies with this case-based interactive short-term fellowship.
Topics cover: MRI Shoulder Impingement Syndromes, Rotator Cuff, Athletic Pubalgia and other Pelvic MSK Disorders, Shoulder Labrum, Instability and Biceps, Knee Ligaments and Associated Osteochondral injuries, Knee Anterior dysplasia and instability, MRI of the Elbow, Wrist and Hand, Hip, Thigh, Ankle, and Foot.

With years of experience in the field of musculoskeletal MRI and supporting Computed Tomography and Radiographs, Dr. Tirman comes prepared with his case mix to share with you, containing a large variety of MSK cases relevant to the topic of each day which participants can also review on their own after the fellowship.

Participation in this fellowship, limited to a maximum of 10 radiologists, will enhance and strengthen your knowledge in musculoskeletal radiology. In this small group environment among your peers, you are free to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn together with the support of Dr. Tirman. It will provide you with knowledge that can help you address your ongoing clinical challenges, as well as future pursuits.



Accreditation and CME Certificate

This radiology mini-fellowship is organised by TMC Academy, an EACCME Trusted Provider. An application has been made to the UEMS/EBR for CME accreditation for this radiology training. CME Certificate will be available to download upon completion.


Learning objectives

  • To describe the normal anatomy of the appendicular skeleton including joints
  • To be familiar with some normal regional variants that mimic disease
  • To understand common imaging presentations of trauma to the appendicular skeleton
  • To understand the imaging presentation of stress-related injuries of the appendicular skeleton and to appreciate their clinical relevance
  • To offer strategies to generate an organized reproducible comprehensive radiology report that satisfies the needs of the referring physician

  • Lectures covering a variety of topics relevant to general MSK MRI
  • Individual reporting on selected cases with supervision/ immediate feedback by Dr. Phillip Tirman
  • Group case discussion

Level

Level II - General radiologist
This is an intermediate-level MSK training geared toward general radiologists (Level II). However, in a small group with plenty of one-on-one time with the radiologist mentor, there will be some flexibility within the programme for each participant.

  • Phillip Tirman M.D.
    Los Angeles, United States of America

    Dr. Phillip Tirman is an internationally recognized MSK expert further subspecializing in the applications of Magnetic Resonance Imaging for evaluating orthopedic, sports medicine, and spine disorders. He is the co-author of three textbooks, including MRI OF THE SHOULDER and DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING: ORTHOPAEDICS. He is also the author or co-author on over sixty original scientific articles published in the radiology and orthopedic literature. Dr. Tirman did fellowship training in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at The Cottage Community Magnetic Resonance Center in Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Magnetic Resonance Center (SFMRC) in San Francisco where he continued to practice and was named Medical Director. Dr. Tirman was subsequently recruited from SFMRC to the prestigious National Orthopedic Imaging Associates Group where he worked closely with Dr. David Stoller and Rusty Fritz and was the NOIA Fellowship director. Dr. Tirman has been a manuscript reviewer for Radiology, the American Journal of Roentgenology, and the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He is a widely sought lecturer and has spoken at over fifty international meetings and has been a pioneer of continuing medical education utilizing the World Wide Web. Dr. Tirman is also a food and wine connoisseur and is the author of the popular book THE WINE AND FOOD LOVER’S DIET which was a James Beard award nominee. Cancellation Policy

Participant cancellation
For cancellations made up until 6 weeks prior to the course, the participant will be fully reimbursed.

For cancellations made after 6 weeks, TMC Academy offers a flexible transfer of paid registration fees, meaning that in the unfortunate event that an attendee cannot make it to Barcelona (for Covid-19 related reasons or other), they may simply transfer their credit to the next session (or to any combination of TMCA training programme(s) or subscriptions equivalent to the same price). Please note that this flexible transfer option is available until 1 day prior to the course.

Mentor/TMC cancellation

Considering the possibility of unforeseen circumstances leading to the cancellation of the training such as Covid-19, force majeure, or any other unforeseen events, registrants will have the option of flexible transfer or receiving a full reimbursement of the registration fee.
