Description
The purpose of this cancer imaging fellowship is to provide a comprehensive overview of imaging criteria (RECIST 1.1 in particular) to assess tumour response in patients receiving systemic therapy. RECIST 1.1 criteria are widely used in clinical trials comparing the efficacy of several therapeutic strategies.
Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) is a set of standardized guidelines for assessing treatment response in solid tumours.
A thorough understanding of these criteria principles and subtleties is important for radiologists involved in clinical trials. Outside clinical trials, RECIST 1.1 can also be used for more comfortable interpretation of images, with structured reporting, to better communicate with oncologists. With the arrival of new, more targeted treatments in oncology, the RECIST criteria had to be adapted and new criteria developed, such as iRECIST for immunotherapy.
Each module starts with a lecture. After the lecture, you will be challenged to practise on key clinical cases. After and during the individual case readings there will be plenty of time for group discussion and Q&A with Dr. Caramella.
💻 TMC Academy radiology online courses are held in a virtual classroom on Zoom allowing you to access high-quality education from anywhere in the world.
We encourage participants to engage in discussions using their cameras and microphone to recreate the face-to-face experience. In these small groups, all questions can be asked, and learn from each other with the support of the radiologist mentor.
Recordings of each session are available for review afterwards, ensuring you can revisit the material at your convenience.
Accreditation and CME Certificate
This radiology fellowship is organised by TMC Academy, an EACCME Trusted Provider. An application has been made to the UEMS/EBR for CME accreditation for this radiology training. CME Certificate will be available to download upon completion.
Learning objectives
- To understand the role of imaging in tumoral evaluation
- To master RECIST 1.1 evaluation at baseline and during follow up
- To understand when and how to use other criteria such as iRECIST
Programme will include
- Lecture on the role of imaging in oncology clinical trials.
- Presentation of the RECIST 1.1 criteria, basic principles, particular cases, limits.
- Presentation of the iRECIST criteria, principles and how to handle progression.
- Overview of other imaging criteria (mRECIST, CHOI, …), principles and when to use them.
- Group case discussion.
- Access to all course materials via the TMC Academy radiology training platform, including discussed cases.
- Plenty of time for Q&A with the specialized radiologist Dr. Caramella.
- Certificate of attendance. An application has been made to the UEMS/EBR for CME accreditation for this event. CME Certificate will be available to download upon completion.
Level
Level II - General radiologist
This cancer imaging fellowship is ideal for radiologists involved in oncologic imaging who want to learn more how to handle tumoral evaluation in any situation.
A RECIST criteria course would be of interest to a variety of healthcare professionals and researchers involved in oncology, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists who need to assess and monitor the effectiveness of cancer treatments in their patients.
