This module is focused on shedding some light on the large group of heterogeneous tumours found in the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. The module is targeted at radiologists who occasionally encounter soft tissue tumours outside of tumour centres, applying basic rules for distinguishing ‘potentially malignant’ from ‘probably benign’ masses.
Unlike many bone tumours, soft tissue masses are often less straight forward in the diagnostic process. There are a few signs that are pathognomonic, some that narrow down to either/or, and that fall into the “could be”/differential of likelihood range. The risk of “pitfalls and Oops lesions” in this group goes up considerably, especially if there aren’t a lot of distinguishing symptoms or clear indications. The module attempts to help shed some light on this large group of heterogeneous tumours found in the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. The module is targeted at radiologists who occasionally encounter soft tissue tumours outside of tumour centres, applying basic rules for distinguishing ‘potentially malignant’ from ‘probably benign’ masses, using primary exclusion trees and hints to help point you in the right direction.

Before entering radiology, he undertook a research doctorate at the Institute of Bone Pathology in Hamburg Germany, investigating sarcomas and metabolic bone diseases. Later, he was the lead radiologist in German sarcoma centres in Bremen, Berlin-Buch and Heidelberg. He pursued an MSK research postdoctorate at UCSF and a clinical MSK fellowship in Leiden, Holland further defining his subspecialty. Dr. Jobke has published numerous articles in the field of MSK and co-authored several book chapters, incl. on sarcomas in a popular MSK reference book. He was a lecturer at several MSK meetings including ISS, ESSR and TMC Academy meetings. Radiological-pathological synopsis was the fundamental basis of his early training and which he continues to be passionate about and eager to pass on his knowledge.
