Intended for pulmonologists, radiologists and rheumatologists, this module is a training activity that will help you to strengthen your clinical skills in interpreting and identifying different patterns of Interstitial Lung Disease, using real-life cases.

Description

The simulator allows you to practice in a real environment that replicates the work of specialists linked to image diagnosis. It is a type of "learning by doing" that allows you to instantly learn from any mistakes made when interpreting the images. Once each case is completed, the user will receive the answers immediately with comments from the mentor on the structured report and annotations on the images, as this strengthens the entire learning process.


Learning objectives

  • To be able to identify and describe the various ILD patterns seen on HRCT scans
  • To practice completing structured reporting templates that can aid in MDT discussions
  • To apply joint clinical / radiological assessment for the diagnosis of Interstitial Lung Disease

The training platform runs entirely in the browser but the online PACS places a considerable load on the hardware and internet connection when viewing and loading cases.

  • * Tested with Safari on iPad 9.7 (2017), should also work on Android with Chrome. User interface not optimized for smaller screens. Large cases (more than 600 images) are not able to be opened on tablet or mobile devices due to memory constraints.

    Dr Fredrik Ahlfors (MD) works part time at Telemedicine Clinic with focus on CT Thorax and HRCT. Together with colleague Carl Lamm, he has co-authored the book "HRCT – Pattern Recognition and Differential Diagnosis of the Lung Disease". Dr Fredrik Ahlfors is an active lecturer and has over the years done many courses in the field of HRCT and ILD.
